By renting a Paris apartment on this discreet and self-contained island you will have an enchanting stay in the city. It is delightfully unspoiled and has a mixture of handsome 17Ith century architecture, modern boutiques, narrow streets and magnificent views from its tree-lined quays. Running lengthwise along the island is the main street, Rue Saint Louis en l’Ile. It boasts a Baroque church, refined boutiques, old-fashioned bistros and brassery , delicate chocolate and food shops, a florist, bakeries, a wonderful cheese shop and many pretty salons de thé.
Many of the most attractive sites Paris has to offer are located nearby. The Pompidou Centre , the Louvre Museum, the Tuileries Garden, Champs Elysées, the Sainte Chapelle, the Latin Quarter, the Bastille and Le Marais are all within walking distance and Notre Dame is just across the bridge, on Ile de la Cité.
This apartment is located on the 5th floor of a building without a lift.
The access is secured by a door code.
The windows offer a clear view and give on a courtyard.
This 50sqm apartment has three separate rooms: a separate bedroom, a dining-room with an open fitted kitchen and a living-room that can be used as a second bedroom if you need.
It is organized as such : the entrance hall directly gives on the dining-room. It features a beautiful dining table for four people.
The fitted kitchen is open on the dining-room. Its equipments are contemporary (induction stoves, dish-washer, large sliding cupboards…) but its decoration will please any History lover ! You will be amazed by the Italian sink made of pink marble and its faucet from the 17th century.
The living-room is separated from the dining-room by a wooden door made of three panels coming straight from the Vaux-le-Vicomte Castle ! These amazing panels as well as all the panels in the dining-room, living-room and the bedroom come from this sumptuous castle.
The living-room features a couch, two armchairs, a flat television that can be used with the DVD player only and a lovely built-in library. This room features two armoir-beds with single beds (90x200).
Therefore this room can also be used as a proper bedroom as you can use the dining-room as a living area while two guests sleep on the other side.
The bedroom is located on the other side of the apartment. From the dining-room, a small corridor will lead you to the bedroom. Note that in this corridor you will find a lovely earthenware sink, perfect to wash your hands if the bathroom is occupied.
The bedroom is absolutely sumptuous. It features a queen size bed (160x200) and a large wardrobe with shelves and hanging trails.
The bathroom is accessible from the entrance hall. It features a walk-in shower and a lovely earthenware sink. The toilets are also in the bathroom.
To conclude this amazing place will be perfect for four people. You will sleep comfortably, wether you sleep in the bedroom or in the single beds in the living-room. Decorated with much taste by Art and History lovers, this apartment has something very unique. You will have the feeling of being a Lord or a Lady here, someone extremely privileged to live among pieces of Vaux-le-Vicomte, immersed in the particular and much pleasant atmosphere !
The Île Saint-Louis and THE must see historic site in Paris. At the very heart of the city, this island attracts by its architecture, beautiful doors and façades, its narrow cobblestoned streets and its many little shops. Stroll along the tree-lined quays and sit down for a moment to watch the barges go…The show is even more fascinating at night with the lights of the boats reflecting and dancing on the facades. The quintessential romantic ! Few cafes on the island have superb…
PAULA SHEIL to rent this apartment
My party of four just spent eight days in this lovely apartment, working our way around Paris by neighborhoods and returning each night to this "Beverly Hills" address. It became apparent after getting on and off the Metro at Sully-Morland or St. Michel how exclusive the area is, how quiet, how safe and beautiful. The apartment is centrally located in the city, and there's easy walking access to the Left Bank, the Louvre, and the Marais. We took the Metro to to Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and Montparnasse, and, of course, the train to Versailles. This was a "Marie-Antoinette"-themed visit, so we dug into her history and explored the obvious MA locations. This apartment decor added tremendously to our enjoyment. I selected it for the decor in the first place! Beware the five story walk-up...good knee and hip mobility is a must!
The beds are comfortable, the pillows, too. Even the pull-downs! The heaters work well. The furniture, TV, etc. all perfect. It would be nice to have the option of "buying" films through the TV service and have that added to the closing bill or even estimating a purchase beforehand.
The bathroom is charming but the door to the shower doesn't close all the way, so best to position yourself against the door. It's very handy to have the small wall way "lavabo" for teeth brushing.
The service contracted our taxi service to and from the CDG Airport (75 euros one way for four) and this provided MUCH stress relief and was only slightly more than we would have all paid separately for train and metro tickets. While we are all adept at using public transportation, using the taxi service made us very comfortable both coming and going. Beware -- these taxi drivers are La Mans-style experts. They know the roads, but the driving can make even the brave feel queasy!
Check in with Eric Barr was a breeze. He was right on time to explain everything about the apartment and give us the keys. He was great about the check out the night before as well (though I understand not all the Paris Address apartments require a personal checkout out.)
We did most of our own cooking, shopping locally and on Rue Cler, for daily needs. The kitchen could be improved with a few more "chef" tools, especially a spatula and a blender, but the knives were in excellent condition! Please add a small broom and dust pan. While we are not fans of electric cook tops, it served us well when we got the hang of it. We also used the dishwasher and the clothes washer/dryer. All the appliances helped minimize our time on household chores and left more time for shopping.
We truly enjoyed all the amenities along the street, made more glorious by the Christmas season. ATMs were easy to find, and when I broke my glasses frames, the local optician took the time and care to insert my lenses into new frames. He even waved away customers who followed after me, telling them to come back in a few minutes so he could concentrate on my problem. Customer attention at its best.
There was not one hitch in our Paris Address service, though I have one recommendation for parties that require more than one set of keys...either a fee for a second or even third set, or a handy "locker" box outside the apartment. We did have some trouble coordinating our separate adventures with just one set of keys.
Overall, I'd rate the apartment 9 out of 10. I'd rate the service a 10 and plan on booking with Paris Address again and referring it to my friends.
